Prepare, immerse, integrate
Most retreats end when you leave. Ours is built around what happens before and after, and the part at home is light.
- Weeks 1 to 4 · Online, at your own pace
Prepare
One to two hours a week, at the times that suit you. A 1:1 intake call with a facilitator, group calls with the people you will spend the week with, and guided practices in the Beckley app. Join late and we catch you up.
- Week 5 · Four or five nights on retreat
Immerse
A private venue and a group of up to 18. Meditation, breathwork, time in nature, and a digital detox if you want one. At the centre of the retreat, two guided sessions on separate days, each followed by a day to make sense of it. All meals, accommodation and airport transfers included.
- The six weeks after · Online, at your own pace
Integrate
Again one to two hours a week, from home. Weekly group calls with your cohort, short daily practices, and tools that turn the experience into habits that hold. Optional 1:1 coaching with a facilitator. Then an alumni community that stays open.
What the days look like
Arrival
Private transfer from the airport. Settle in, meet your group and the team, and open the week together.
Preparation on site
Meditation, breathwork and gentle movement. Time with a facilitator to set your intention. Time in nature, and a digital detox.
The sessions
Two guided sessions on separate days. Each lasts around six hours, in one room, with your group and the full team. Every guest receives a custom amount within a predefined range, around what you would see in a clinical trial in the US, though this is not medical treatment. Music guides the arc and a facilitator is within reach the whole time.
Integration on site
The day after a session is set aside to make sense of it: group circles, 1:1 time, rest, and practices you can take home.
Departure
Closing circle, then a private transfer to the airport. Integration begins the week after you return.
Nature, sessions, connection, integration, nourishment and rest
The days on site sit inside a full program of preparation and integration.

Nature
Mountain vistas in Trelawny, woodland and heath in the Netherlands. Time outside and a digital detox are part of the structure, not a break from it.

Guided sessions
Two guided sessions on separate days, in one room with your group and the full team. Music, and silence, in a space prepared for it.

Connection
Facilitated group circles across the days, with each cohort composed with care. Most people arrive for themselves and leave talking about the others.

Integration
Six weeks of support after you fly home, online and at your own pace: group calls, guided practices and a short daily practice.

Nourishment
All meals and snacks included and made on site. Long tables, unhurried, and nothing to think about.

Rest
A private room, or a shared room at the lower price, depending on the property. Personal time is written into the days.
Eight things that are true of every Beckley program
Retreats in this field vary enormously. These are the standards we hold on every date, in both countries.
- Before you are accepted
Screening, by people qualified to do it
Applying takes about seven minutes, and our team replies within three to five business days. Every applicant has a suitability call with our team before being invited. It is not optional: it is where we go through your history together, answer your questions and make sure the program is a fit. Some conditions and some medications, including SSRIs and SNRIs, may mean the program is not the right fit, or not yet. Apply anyway and tell us; when the answer is no, we say so plainly.
- Before you arrive
Four weeks of preparation
Preparation is digital and at your own pace, one to two hours a week: group calls with your cohort, a 1:1 intake call, and guided practices in the Beckley app, all fitted around a full working life. You meet the people you will spend the week with and your lead facilitator before you travel.
- The people in the room
Never more than four guests to a facilitator
During sessions there is at least one facilitator for every four guests, usually one for every three, so someone is always within reach and no one is ever managing a room alone. Our teams include practitioners with backgrounds as psychotherapists, psychologists and physicians. On retreat they are not acting in their licensed capacity, because Beckley does not provide medical treatment, but that training is in the room with you.
- The place
Legal, private, and prepared for anything
Jamaica and the Netherlands are the only two countries where this work is fully legal. It is federally illegal in the United States, which is why our programs run abroad. In Jamaica a nurse is on site throughout every session with a doctor on call; in the Netherlands public emergency services are minutes away. Our safety plan covers physical, emotional and psychological safety and is shared with every venue partner and team before a retreat begins.
- During a session
What actually happens, hour by hour
A guided session lasts around six hours, in one room, with your group and the full team. Every guest receives a custom amount within a predefined range, around what you would see in a clinical trial in the US, though this is not medical treatment. Music guides the arc. A facilitator is within reach the whole time. You can drink water, step outside, ask for support, or ask to be left alone.
- If it gets hard
Difficult passages are expected, and the team is trained for them
Physical effects can include nausea or a headache. The main psychological risk is a period of overwhelming distress, and, rarely, effects that last longer. We do not pretend otherwise. The preparation weeks, the ratio in the room, the experience of the team and the on-site care exist for exactly these moments, and the following day is built for working through what came up.
- After you go home
Six weeks of integration, then a community that stays open
Weekly group calls, short daily practices and science-backed tools turn what happened on retreat into habits that hold. Optional 1:1 coaching is available. Then the alumni community, which many guests say is where the change settles in.
- Underneath all of it
Twenty-five years of research, and a research team of our own
Beckley Retreats grew out of the Beckley Foundation, established in 1998 by our co-founder Amanda Feilding. Our program is shaped by peer-reviewed research and ongoing collaboration with researchers from Imperial College London, Johns Hopkins, Yale and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Our guests are making real change
Four guests on what the program was like, in their own words.
“Every leader in America should go through this program.”

“I am walking away from this retreat with new found love in my heart. And I am humbled. Feeling cleansed and restored.”

“My experience of the retreat was just fantastic. The four week preparation before the retreat really helped people understand how powerful the work is, and also trained people on a set of practices to best navigate the experience.”

“I did a lot of research around wellbeing programs and found Beckley Retreats. I manifested for two years that I wanted a life-changing experience like this. Now here I am, I've done it and it has been amazing.”

Who the program is for
People at a crossroads rather than in crisis. Founders, executives, physicians, therapists, attorneys: people who have built a full life, and something in it has gone flat or stuck. They want clarity about what is next, and a real reset rather than more of the same.
Most of our guests are in their 40s through 70s. What they share is a considered approach and a sense that the next step asks for something different.
Every applicant is screened, and every applicant has a suitability call with our team before being invited. Applying takes about seven minutes, and approval does not commit you to attend.

Questions people ask
How much time does it take before and after the retreat?
One to two hours a week, online and at your own pace: four weeks before you travel and six weeks after you return. There is one weekly group call at a set time. Everything else fits around your schedule, and if you join late we catch you up.
I have never done anything like this. Which format should I choose?
The five-night Signature Program. The longer retreat carries the most preparation and support on site, which is why we recommend it to first-time guests.
I take medication. Can I still come?
Some medications, including SSRIs and SNRIs, may mean the program is not the right fit, or not yet. Apply anyway and tell us. The suitability call is where we work that out together.
Is this legal?
Yes. Jamaica and the Netherlands are the only two countries where this work is fully legal, and Beckley operates only in legal jurisdictions. It is federally illegal in the United States, which is why our programs run abroad. Beckley Retreats is a US public benefit corporation.
What does it cost?
Jamaica from $5,500, the Netherlands from $4,250, per guest by room type, with meals, transfers, both sessions and the full preparation and integration programs included. Flights are extra. Financial aid is available.
What happens when I get home?
Integration starts the week after you return: six weeks of group calls, daily practices and tools, plus optional 1:1 coaching. Then the alumni community, which stays open.
A healthier, more beautiful world is possible.
It starts one person at a time, with rest, good food, clear air and a structured program held by people who have done this work for decades.
